A Major ‘Coop’ for HMG’s Gerard Centre

Leading North West property company Hollins Murray Group Ltd (HMG) has let a unit at the Gerard Centre in Ashton in Makerfield to The Co-operative Funeralcare at a record rent.

The country’s leading funeral director has agreed a new 10 year lease at the Gerard Centre at a rent of £19,500 per annum; an increase of over 30% since the unit was last let. Advised by agents, Legat Owen, HMG is delighted to continue its association with such a strong household name.

Nick Casson, Chief Executive of Hollins Murray Group comments: &ldquolWe’re very happy that the Co-op has decided to open another one of their brands at the Gerard Centre, complimenting their travel business and supermarket operation, both of which have units in the scheme. The Gerard Centre continues to thrive despite the economic climate and customer loyalty is only further boosted when they come across big brands like The Co-operative.”

The 63,000 sq ft Gerard Centre is a modern purpose built town centre retail development, comprising 20 units and anchored by Somerfield, with tenants including major retailers such as Subway and Boots. HMG has owned the centre for almost 15 years during which time many improvements have been made.
