BUSINESS BOOM AT BURTON PLACE!

Burton Place Shopping Centre in Burton on Trent has defied current market trends, with a reported 10% increase in footfall year on year.

The centre, owned by North West retail and commercial property investors, Hollins Murray Group Ltd (HMG) attracts an average of 80,000 visitors per week, and is home to a broad mix of value retailers ranging from frozen foods to home goods to clothing and furnishing retailers. These include Wilkinson’s, Home Bargains and Farmfoods, all of whom are now benefiting from the surge in ‘bargain shopping’.

The latest figures are great news for the centre, which is due in part to the retail mix, its proximity to the town centre and its 300 space on-site car park, but also due to its comparably low rental levels. At £45 per sq ft ITZA it is considerably cheaper to lease a unit at Burton Place than at either of Burton’s neighbouring shopping centre’s, which are two to three times more expensive.

Nick Casson, Director of Hollins Murray Group comments: “We have a strong commitment to this specific sector of retailing and are delighted that Burton Place is trading so well at present, especially at a time when many high street retailers are finding the going tough. The key to the scheme’s success is its affordability relative to the rest of the town centre.”
